Terms of Service

Last updated June 18, 2026

These terms govern your use of SelfBuildOS (the "Service"), project-management software for owner-builders. By creating an account you agree to them. SelfBuildOS is an early-stage product built and operated by an individual; these terms are written in plain language and may be updated as the Service grows.

1. Use of the Service

The Service helps you plan, schedule, and budget a residential self-build. It is a tool for organizing your own project — it is not construction, engineering, legal, financial, or insurance advice, and it does not replace your contractors, inspectors, or lender. Decisions about your build are yours.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

3. Subscriptions & billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a recurring monthly or annual basis. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial; if you cancel before it ends, you won't be charged. You can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of your paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Community and founding prices require a valid code and apply as described at checkout.

4. Your data & exports

Your build data is yours. You can export your line items, purchase orders, budget summary, and records to CSV at any time. If you cancel, you can export on your way out; see the Privacy Policy for how long data is retained afterward.

5. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service: no unlawful activity, no attempts to breach security or access other users' data, no reselling or reverse-engineering the Service, and no uploading of content you don't have the right to store.

6. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SelfBuildOS is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for construction outcomes, cost overruns, or schedule slips on your project. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.

7. Changes & termination

We may update these terms or the Service over time; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms.
